07 Apex oil blow by from crank breather hose

I have an 07 Apex w/BD 28-60. I am getting about 1 qt of oil coming out my crank case breather hose every ride. I have the breather hose running up over the motor and down behind the chain case. I am now running 10:1 pistons, but it did the same thing on stock pistons. I am running Mobil 1 5W30fully synthetic. It has done this since the turbo was installed at 200 miles. It gets worse when Im making hard pulls. Is anyone else having a problem with this? I'm looking for possbile cures.

Thanks

it seems to be a prob with the bd kit i think its got something to do with there oil tank not having any baffles.my buddies does the same & his comp is perfect.you could do a leak down test but i doubt thats your prob.

We went through th same thing. It seems that the Bd oil res is the problem. It is higher than stock and apparently not baffled as well. You do not have to fill it to the full line because it holds more oil than stock.

Our solution was to only fill to just above the empty line, run a tube from the breather hose to the nose of the sled and then use a small plastic bottle to catch the blow.

I think you will find that if you fill it to the full line you will blow out about a quart and then you will lose very little oil after that.

You will also lose less oil if you do not run over 14 lbs boost.

Paster, I have tired to run with my oil level as you recommend. It does blow less oil out, but my oil light comes on all the time and it makes me nervous. My oil light comes on if I let the oil level get between low and max. If I start with a full tank per the dip stick my oil light will come on after about 1/2 day ride. If I start at the low level my oil light is on from the start.

I am letting my sled run for a couple minutes and turning off for a couple minutes and checking my oil level with the dip stick not screwed back into the reservoir. Does this sound right?

I will run breather hose into a bottle. At least if it blows oil it won't make a mess.

Has anyone spoke with BD about this?

One other thing you might check. Look and see if there is any oil around the turbo on the belly pan, just below the turbo, clean fresh oil.

Mine started using oil the other day and come to find out my return oil line had gotten real hot and brittle and cracked and I was losing oil there. I put a 50 lb pressure fuel line on for a return and that kinked, causing a lot of oil to run into the inner cooler and eventually through the motor.

Fixed the kink and it is working great! I am not blowing any measurable oil, you would be surprised how far a little oil coming out under pressure goes. I probably do not even get a teaspoon of oil in my little bottle all day.

As far as oil level goes, I try to start out at E with the gauge unscrewd. I figure that would put it around the half way point. It has been working well for me.

I to have no oil coming out of the breather. For the oil return line i made my own with steal braided line and used bds fittings so it cant kink or melt.

Are you hitting the rev limit. I know after I got the clutching on the oil prob went away I would wonder about the oil to kinda hard to beat yamaha enginiers if they say run 0-30 I would and do use that Outlaw also reccomends yam 0-30.

Thanks for the Post! Mine (06 BD 2571 Vector) spits oil at high boost when full to the Top Hashing. Only a little! Now in the Middle Hashing, it's not Spitting to my Knowledge, or as Much. I beleive this is called Over Boosting! The pressure left built up from the Turbo, pushes the Oil out before the BOV releases the extra Air! I Think! :) This was Happening when I would go from full boost to Nothing at the Top of a Climb. Hope this helps us all! JOP
