Took my son's 07 800R summit for a ride.He said the last time he rode it, it overheated.Well I took it for a ride to see if I could find out what he was talking about.Well I made it about three miles when it quit. Went to start it and pulled the rope twice then it locked up.Got it home and pulled off the Y-pipe and reeds. The MAG side was wet and looked good. The PTO side was dry and the piston had scratched. When I tried to turn it over I could feel something is wrong. The oil lines had oil in them.

P.S.
When I looked at the reeds there was a string from a shredded belt stuck in them. Keeping them open. Is that what made it run lean?

yeah if its not closing then it cant run right and wont pull air/fuel up into the cumbustion chamber right. like said b4 if its under warranty, dont mess with it. labor is free right now.

the belt debris in the reeds, would not have caused a burn down. That being said, belt debris, in the carb, can. For instance, if the belt cord, was in the area of the needle and restricted the flow of fuel. When the dealer warranty's it, have them pull the carbs down, for a look-see.

Thanks

Bring it to a dealer tomorrow to find out. Don't know if it has a warranty left.Dealer told me to bring the vin.# to find out.He bought it at haydays from a guy that bought it from Cooke City Exxon ( a rental) so I hope theres a warranty.
