07 800R Backfire

Has anyone had this happen? After shutting off sled it seems to have a backfire. Never after just moving sled around, but after a nice pull in the powder. Don't seem to have any other issues with sled. Just want to make sure I am not causing any problems.

my 07 does it too.
I wish boss still did customizing, I would have "Coach" printed on the side and really be fashionable.

Most of them will do it if you run them hard and shut them down right away. As stated let it idle for a few ( 10 -15 seconds should do ) and it should stop.

I have the identical sled and it does the same thing!! I don't know if it hurts the sled to do this but it seem to run good.... but I am on my 2nd motor and primary clutch with 2000 miles. Do anyone know if this backfiring does any harm??

Mine has been doing it for some time. For unrelated reasons I went threw my carbs, dpm, raves, resealed all intake books, ect. Which also included upping my pilot jet size. Didn't backfire on shut off or do the "slow down pop" once all day.

BRP's pilot system is lean for EPA reasons, so the idle will hang. If you turn it off before the idle returns then the unburnt fuel will ignite and cause backfire. This can get compounded by aftermarket cans with poor welds as the weld beads heat up and glow red hot and will ignite the fumes. 20 pilots solves most backfire and hanging idle issues but will eat into your gas mileage.

ah makes sense. I did go with bigger pilots when I went threw my carbs.

New 3500 - 4000 idle hang

G man, do you think this (pilots) is also the reason for: This weekend the idle hung around 3500-4000 sporadically? Ride was 4000' - 6000', 5* - 20* temp, hard pulls in 3' of decent powder? Or is this a completely seperate issue (clutching, belt, other). No new changes on sled. Thanks.

Yes, the colder temps and lean pilot system will do that, especially with a heat soaked motor. Change up to 20's.
