Can I do this so that my 08 has dual ring pistons? My brothers sled is a 07 and mine is a 08 and that is the only difference between the sleds and his runs way better.
Should be able to install the two ring 2007 700 Dragon pistons in a 2008 7000 Dragon. As the my Poo dealer installed two new 08 700 Dragon single pistons in my X old 07 D7, then burnt down for the second time in 100 miles!!!!!!!!!!!! I traded in to Poo dealer as my 07 D7 turned into a slow poor running DOG!!! The compression dropped 5 psi on the mag cylinder, then burnt down on the new owner in less then 100 miles. I tried to tell Al and Dean that my 07 D7 Dog was going to burn down, engine temps went up to 147*F and much slower, 90 MPH Dog. I told the service manger Dean that most likely it had weak pistons and the typical 07 "BAD/Weak" "'Stator" that would hurt performance. Service manger checked every thing out, said no problems with my 07 D7 Dog. So I traded it in on a new 09 600 CFI 4 Switchback, also a Dog as it would only go 79 MPH on a hard packed lake or road. Many poor factory set-ups on my 09 S.B. 600 CFI 4!!!!!!
Suggest to check compression with cold engine and with engine warmed up to 125*F. Then remove, clean power valves, inspect pistons thru the open power valve holes in cylinders. If the compression varies more then 5 psi (Poo warranty spec is sad at 10 psi difference) between cylinders, pistons scared, etc, install two new 07 Dragon/Polaris or the new coated Wiseco two ring pistons.
If the compression is approx 125 psi on each cylinder with a warm 125*F engine, pistons are good, do not change.
Most slow 2007 600cc CFI 4 and 700cc CFI 4 Polaris sleds had the "typical weak stator", many back orders on stators in 2007, improved stator plates in 09!!!!
The stator plate assembly usually checks out OK on a cold engine. On my X 07 D7 it would loose power after approx a 30 minute run. If you had a poor dealer like I have, suggest to trade your D7 Dog in on a different sled!!!!
Was the Dumb *** Poo engineer that decided to go to single ring pistons in the 08 700 and 800 CFI 4 engines ever fired???
Most Polaris engineers are very, very sharp!!!
Good luck, you will need it; Rich
