'07 700 Dragon reviews?

A friend of mine is looking at buying an 07 dragon 700, 155''. With 1000 miles on it they want 5,999 bucks. He wants to know what to expect with these sleds, their long term dependability, what a good price would be, and what problems have been known to happen with the 07 700's.

Seems like a good price...couldn't tell you if any known issues, but they are nice sleds; handle well!

Wifes has 2100 miles on it with zero problems and we aren't ....... kind to our sleds.

There is a (as with any sled) laundry list of stuff you can do to it, but very little that NEEDS to be done.

Holz easy steer spindles. Greatly improve handling.
Holz shock tower vents, and foot well vents.
SLP intake (replace that little foam thingy).
2Cool intake vent (increases air intake).
19t top gear.
Better boards. The stock running boards load up with snow and ice.
Aftermarket front bumper. The plastic bumper won't last.
Heavy duty rear torsion springs. the stockers are weak.
Take a tube of silicone and seal up around the head light. It has been known to leak and let snow into the intake.
Take a piece of black duck tape and seal the light adjuster wheel on the dash. It is a direct path to the intake and will allow snow in.

I wouldn't do anything with the pipe and can unless you want a different sound. Replacing the can will change the sound and drop about 5lbs but will do nothing for performance.

I wouldn't bother with the shocks other than to get them serviced and recharged. Unless you drop off cliffs you won't have any problems.

The rear skid works fine. Don't worry about it.
Move the front shock on the rear skid to the lower hole. Helps with aproach angle.

07 D7 = Great Sled

The 07 D7 is an excellent out of the box sled, and the price sounds pretty good. As always Ollie's advice is spot on. I have a 08 D8 163 and a 07 D7 155 and I can't beleive the performance, reliability, and runability, even compared to the D8. I've seen these sleds go 3500 miles with zero problems. Mine has 1000 miles with zero issues other then a busted front bumber.

The only other items I could consider above what Ollie has suggested is:
-3 Delrin washers in the secondary
-Team 66-44-.46 helix in secondary

The 07 D7 will put one big smile on your face.

Cheers,

What does this do?

BTW I love my D7, oil and gas...go

Ollie's post is spot on.

Purchased my 07 D7 155 this last September for $6200. Rode it at Togwotee for the first time this week. I added MTX clutch weights, a blue/yellow primary spring, and a AAEN can . Also removed the foam intake pieces and replaced with SLP intake kit. This sled is impressive, I previously owned a 05 700 159 Edge and it easily out performed it. Another noted benefit is the D7 is an oil miser.

There was alot of powder at Togwotee this week and the air intake leaks did cause the sled to stumble several times due to moisture in the air box. I did add pre-filter material (SLP) ahead of the air intake horn assuming all air has to pass through this point. Removed the plastic tray the horn is attached to under the hood and riveted the pre-filter material in place. The only other area powder could have been creeping in was at the foam that seals between the air box and the air intake horn as the hood is closed. This is an area worth trying to fix because losing power while pulling through deep pow can be frustrating.

Man 6200... that is cheap, I paid 8500 almost exactly a 1yr ago.

Is this something that is easy to do and are the results noticeable?

The one other thing that the delrin washers do is that they allow a softer and nicer downshift on the secondary. If you have ever done a hard climb and on your way down the sled remains in high gear (engine stays at high RPM) until you crack the throttle and/or hear a load clunk, the delrin washers help this condition big time.

They are cheap (less then $6 for all three) and are easily installed as long as you have a a clutch compression tool or a simple cheap shop press. 30 min job max.
