07 600 RMK carb suddenly won't idle

SO did some stuff to the sled (took apart and cleaned power valves, took off exhaust, put higher riser on (involved taking out cables to bars) moved tail light)
And now the sled won't idle, at all, starts up on one pull, I can rev it up and it runs fine, but if it gets near idle it will die.

Power valves are in correct, all wires are hooked up (I think) any ideas?

Could wires to the bars cause that?

I tried to adjust idle screw (it idled low before) and no change.wont even idle fast. Made sure I got the exhaust on tight... Choke isn't pulled

It did backfire once, when I was trying to keep it alive with the gas..

Try to diss-connect the throttle safety switch, (think it's a white colored connection on the bars just under the hood) you could have messed up the setting when you changed out your bars. If it idles with it undone you've found your problem.

Yep, runs on its own with that disconnected, so I guess I have to fix that, it seems to run very fast almost like its going to run away, idle screw is as far out as it can go, so it should be slow.. never had any issues before..

how do I fix this switch?

Ok, so I fixed it. It was the TSS as was said, so I un-hooked that, and the sled would basically idle up to around 5500 RPM, and climbing.

Why?

Well this is where it gets interesting. I had broken off the choke lever earlier in the night, before trying to start the sled. I was really pissed because the guy I bought it from said it was a new choke lever. Anyways, I guess when chromag installed said new choke lever, he didn't read the manual, because he had NO slack in the line for the choke.

So it was basically running a full choke when the choke lever was off. So he compensated by more or less making the sleds resting idle, right around half throttle, he did this with the throttle cable.... (which is why the idle screw didn't work for me).

So when I "reset" the choke, the sled was running at half throttle, and not SUPER rich. So I adjusted throttle cable to spec, adjusted idle to spec, plugged back in TSS, and now all works as it should.

I would also get in there and check your intake boots. Juuuuust incase you have an issue with them too. To me, that sounds like you painted a picture to me of torn boots... maybe not, but alot easier to check them than to replace an engine.

EDIT: Sorry, missed post #5.......... Sounds like a ya got it nailed.
