07 600 rebuild

Am doing a complete rebuild on my 07 600 carbed rmk, cause on of the rod bearings on the crank went out:face-icon-small-sad. I am wondering of there is anything that I should be watching out for when i am putting it together? Also does anyone know what the Polaris uses to seal the two halves of the case together? Because when I pulled it appart all it looked like was there was a little bit of rtv around the edges and the rest just looked like metal on metal :face-icon-small-sho. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

I know of an '08 600 with rod bearing issues currently. His was due to an insufficient amount of lubrication. You might want to double check the oiler level.

When I have put Polaris engines back together the local Polaris dealer sold me a tube of Honda-bond. Kind of a grey/tan sealer that mashes down real flat so it doesn't interrupt the torquing. I know there are others, but I have had good luck with this stuff.

Sounds like similar/same to what I use Yama-Bond

Another shop I know of that does Harleys uses the same stuff as well.

Yamabond works good. And yes, even though these carbed sleds are pretty darn reliable the lower rod bearings go out too, bump your oiler up a bit when you put it back together.
I am waiting on a fresh rebuilt crank to put my son's engine together, going to have a Dragon SB carbed model...

Yama-bond

Thanks for the info, there is a Yamaha dealer in town so I will see if they will sell me some yama-bond. Will also try to remember to turn the oiler up when I get it all put together. Is there anything to look for when i put It all together, I've never done this before and a want to get it right the first time. One more question, does anybody have any tips on getting the paper gasket off?

Had northern crank do wifes sled. She always tried to start it, 6-8 pulls , start then backfire. they said the if it doesnt start right away the bottom half can fill up with fuel ,then when it starts, you blow the needle bearings out with the backfire. I start it now.
