06 to 05 fusion 900 engine swap

Can anybody tell me if its possible to swap a 06 900 motor into a 05 900 fusion chassis? We are running into problems with the 06 motor being a four injector motor and the injector placement different from the 05 two injector motor. We are running into problems with the location of the steering shaft and oil bottle. Jus curious if the bulkheads, jackshaft and engine mounts are different from the 05 to the 06 chassis. Our current 05 chassis steering shaft location is right in the way of the injectors and fuel rail and water pump neck on the 06 four injector motor.

I have only ever read of 1 person on here who has successfully put an 06 motor into an 05 chassis and IF I remember right, he said it wasn't worth the effort. As you said, injectors, steering, jackshaft, ECU, oil/coolant bottles, mounting brackets, and accessories are all different from 05 to 06. If you wanted to go through the headache, it would have to be a complete 1-off build.

Under the skin, the 05 and 06 900s are actually pretty different sleds in regards to how everything goes together. If you're asking if it will drop in without a LOT of effort, then the answer is no, it won't fit.

I have an 06 top end (cylinders) installed on an 05 bottom end...however, it was not easy like you stated.

you will NOT be able to use the 06 bottom end without changing everything you stated above, and even if you did, you will have to modify things to work.

my setup is this

05 bottom end, 06 cylinders (because of better factory porting which is basically identical to SLP porting of the 05 cyl), custom made plugs that go in the upper injector hole on the 06 cyl, cut off part of the MAG side injector housing to fit around the steering post, nothing else was touched. Running 05 SLP Perf flash ecu with 06 slp y-pipe, pipe and MBRP can.

why are you trying to mod the 06 motor in anyways? if i was you, i would sell the 06 engine for the 05 engine and just drop it in with no issues...its not for the faint for sure.

good luck.

I don't mean to hi jack this thread but I basically have the same question only different. Does anybody know if an 05 900 will fit into an 06 chassis?

06 has higher fuel pressure so you need an 05 pressure regulator or fuel pump with regulator. 06 is 4 injectors 05 has two so I would think you would need the wiring harness. ECU may work with a reflash but but probably needs to be swapped to an 05 ECU. Not sure if there would be clearance problems. I don't think there would but others on here would know for sure.
