06 switchback tunnel question

Hey guys, im thinking about pulling off my factory tunnel extension on my 144 SB with the 151 tunnel crap. Anyways I want to pull it of and do a straight extension instead of the kick up one and run a VE rear cooler. Is there any problems with getting ride of the rear kick up on this model?

it can be done..i know FRANZ did it on his 05 900...and it looks great...same thing your talking about...you try PMing him, but i know he is out of town on vacation right now..

basically did the same thing...but he made his own tunnel section, and then had VE make him a cooler...HUGE improvement...and he was running a 975 too and never had a cooling issue...

the only thing i would look into more is the running board coolers...they form upwards into the "tip up" of the tunnel...so you might have to stick with the angle in the back for them to fit right...

Yea, the main reason Im doing this is to make more room for my tunnel bag and my gas cans. Ill have to try to get ahold of him. You have any pics?

this is the only pic i got from him at the time..we are good friends...he didnt have a camera handy at the time...so this is all he had to show me..

Sorry that I don't go out and buy a new sled every 2 years because I don't know how to set them up correctly..lol... I like my lil 4yr old 600..so far to out runs and out climbs everything else in our group :smokin: talked with Matt (sledtech) today, he won't beable to help me out with the extension...gonna call VE on my way home to see what they say. Worse comes to worse you feel up to alil cad drawing for me old buddy ;-)

The 06 switchback tunnel is made for a 151" track. they just stuck a 144 under it to accomodate the flatland riders. if u want to go longer u will have to get a 155 or longer tunnel.

Yea, I know all about the "why" when Polaris built these sleds. But I did talk to VE yesterday, they said if I could provide some detailed pictures and a drawing or cad program with what I would like, they would be more then happy to help me out.

if you are going longer, than 151, you need an extension and they are an easy swap. VE has a very good tunnel extension, I put one on a 04 Pro-XR project.

Do not try to extend the existing rails. I did that and was never happy. Ice Age has the solution - his rails are top notch and you can get most of your money back by selling your existing rails in the swap meet.

Yes! Ice Age makes some great stuff, I actually helped a friend do a 144 conversion on his pro XR last year as well (ice age rails with iq fronts, and a sledtech extension) for now I'm jus going to keep the sled a 144 with a 151 or 155 tunnel. The main reason I'm doing this is to provide more flat tunnel (without the kickup) for gas cans and tunnel bag, improve cooling, stop.the ice build up under the tunnel and if things go right add the boondocker running boards...
