06 rmk turning issues

My girlfriend has a 2006 RMK 700. She has a hell of time turning the sled; especially at slower speeds. We live in Washington so the snow is a bit wetter and heavier. Thinking about buying USI x2 skis or powder pros. Thoughts?

I have the same machine carls cycle has a 225lb front track shock for it and theres a pair of 2010 rmk spindles on classifieds for 150 both will get you what you want for under two bones
 
the USI skis are flat pow pros are way aggressive get a set of SLP SLTs they work great set the mount plate to the rear it will turn easy..
 
08-10 Polaris spindles will help IMMENSELY with steering effort. Polaris Gripper Skis are very good for these sleds too, an almost perfect balance of steering effort and responsiveness. Powder Pros are a very aggressive design that will help the sled turn quickly, but could possibly increase the effort required to turn the bars.
 
I have SLP powder pros on my 09'Assault and the things a tank to turn at slow speeds. They're super aggressive powder skis, and work great in deep snow but not what your looking for.

Ck steering post pivots,joints rods all the way to spindle for any corrosion or seizing..
Spindles are first upgrade Grippers or SlyDogs second. Track spring definite third!
Check bar height and position for her when you get it all buttoned up.
 
All these suggestions are good but go with the 225lb front track spring and then see how you like it. Not hard to change, cheap, and will do exactly what you want. Then the skis, they will actually shine more with the track spring done first to get the sled balanced right.

There are 3 things to do that will FIX and SOLVE this issue and all have been mentioned.

First thing.... a set of spindles from a 2009-2010 Polaris Dragon. These are the spindles that Polaris basically "copied" from HOLZ. I actually have a set of take-off's for sale in the swapmeet.

Also making sure the proper toe-in and cast/camber adjustments are made will solve the issue.

2nd thing.....A 225lb. front skid shock spring available from Carls Cycle. The stock spring is way too soft which allows it to collapse thus allowing the majority of the weight of the rider and sled to fall on the poor geometry of the stock spindles and front suspension. Along with this shock spring, I would then loosen the limiter strap's to the lowest hole.

3rd thing....Skis. The stock sidehiller skis suck. Skis are a personal preference type of thing but by the sounds of what you are looking for, the Polaris Gripper's that came out in 2007-Present, are probable the best "all-around" ski you could use. I will say though that those USI's work very well on this chassis.
 
I would highly recommend ditching the spindles once you've adjusted that front shock as they have suggested you will still feel like you have no steering. I went with powder pro skis and love them. I also ditched the sway bar and went with z broz shocks a arms and SPINDLES and it was well worth the money....gotta wonder what the polaris engineers are getting paid for sometimes cause steering on the stock set up is PATHETIC at best!
