06 rmk 700 need new top end?

So recently picked up a 2006 rmk 700 151 and been getting all the bugs worked out. Oil pump was seized open, voltage regulator was bad, all the cables need replaced and the VES valves are sticking pretty bad. I took the Y pipe off for better access to everything and then noticed the pistons were starting to score pretty bad and also the cylinders aren't in the best shape. Just wondering if this is the time for a new top end or would you put it back together and go? Sled is around 3,000 miles and I do believe this would be the first time the top end would be replaced. I know the previous owner. :noidea: Pics are of the mag side piston and the pto side cylinder.

Compression is still reading 115 psi per cylinder. Definitely not in good shape though. Rings are still in tact and look alright. Probably gonna pull the head off now and dig a little deeper. Do they make larger size pistons for this motor or is your option to get new cylinders and start over? Thanks.

Definitely time for a new top end and possibly jugs. Depending on your budget, you might want to look into a new crank too. Just after I rebuilt the top end on one of my '06 700s, the primary clutch sheared off the crank right at the case. After some research, I found this isn't all that uncommon for these sleds. Polaris actually has an updated crank available. Luckily I was riding with a group of people the day mine let go in the backcountry. Otherwise, I would have been stranded.

U could just install 06 900 cylinders and pistons, flash ur ecu to the 900 and have a bigger monster ;)
