06 RMK 700 Fuel Line Disconnect

How do you disconnect the fuel line between the tank and the fuel filter assembly? This is EFI and has two lines from fuel tank. I'm removing the tank to see why steering has play in it when turning the handlebars.

Thanks,
Roy

they use automotive fuel line disconnect tools..you can pick them up pretty cheap from a napa..(they are available in plastic, aluminum)...you should need a ford style tool in both 3/8 and 5/16..they slip on the line then wiggle them inside the female connector to expand the spring and then pop the lines apart....no tool needed to assemble..just slip the lines togeather and wiggle till you feel the spring lock onto the male end...

Wow thanks I had no idea. I'll have to pick a tool up tomorrow.

Do you have any idea what might be causing my steering play? I checked the top bushing becuase I can see it and I pulled the boots off and my sterring compnents to the skis have no play. I'm thinking it's the bottom bushing or the rod post connection. That's why I'm pulling the tank to be able to inspect without pulling the motor.

Thanks.

I would think it is the lower bushing..but you will just have to get in there and take a look...

Thanks.

I'll have to get in there and look after I remove the tank. Someone recommended removing the fuel tank to get at it. I cannot even get close to seeing it with the airbox and exhaust removed.

A few pics of what AK described above

A cheap set of these will do, the annodized aluminum ones are nicer

Slip in the tool like this

Push it into the fitting and pull apart

EW

The plastic ones in the pics that EW provided seem to work much better than the metal/alloy style.

As far as your slop, I've been finding aolt of loose nuts at the bottom of the steering shaft.

What's the basic steps to getting to the nut. I cant even see it and was going to remove my gas tank to try to get a look. I was even thinking of cutting a access hole in the bottom of the tunnel with a round hole saw and then reviit an alluminim cover over the hole. Any thoughts or help is appreciated. I wanted to try without unbolting the motor and having to realign the clutches.
