06 Rebuild and Oil use high...

06 800 , So at the end of last year we lost a piston and rod bearing. Long story short I install a reman crank and pistons. And wouldnt ya know it the sled now uses darn near two Qts of oil per ride...70 miles or so. I took the sled to the dealer for some other issues and asked him to look at the pump as I may have the adjustment wrong. He thinks the pump is fine and that I may have damaged the inner seal on the crank witch allows oil to enter the case from the water-oil pump shaft I did take the oil pump off and ran it on a drill for a short time to make sure it was pumping oil. Could I have fubared the pump so that it runs wide open all the time....would be a way easyer fix than to deal with the crank Any thoughts ??? Thanks Dino

I had the same problem and mine was the pump but i dont no if thats your but thats my thought on it.

Do the oil injection delete and run premix. I did it on my 07 and its great. I have the race reservoir which lets me know the crankcase oil is ok. If that level goes down then you know you have a crank seal going bad. Tougher to tell with oil injection installed.

there is more info out there on getting rid of your oil injection. let me know if you have any questions

Oil Pump

Going to rebuild the engine in our 04. While its down I thought I might switch the pump from the 04 to the 06 but not sure if they are the same? Might make all the differance in the 06??? Dino

Switched the pump and wham bam no heavy smoke...will ride it soon and see if the oil useage went back to normal. Dino
