06 GM 1500 "clock spring" issues

My "service airbag" warning message started scrolling across the screen the other day....the same time as the volume and channel and other switches quit working on the steering wheel. So I guessed it was something down there under the wheel. Took it to my best bud Pecos' shop where they confirmed that it was indeed the "clock spring" under the wheel. here's the kicker: 600+ bucks from GM!! WTF! ANybody got a line on a used one or aftermarket component? Pecos did some searching as often GM parts are available aftermarket a bunch cheaper....but he had no luck. I love the ol' El Camino, but I'm almost thinking a chunk of black tape for the airbag light, and reach over the extra 8 inches to fiddle with the stereo.....

I just called me local GM dealer with the part number Himark gave. GM Canada retail - $690.50

Fook me.... I get a trade discount there and that part number doesn't even discount for me.

I guess the part number (they punched in the VIN) is 26101829....not sure what the difference is. Every discount place I try in the US won't ship to Canada. Any on-line GM parts discounters in Canada?

Himark....you got Paypal....I could get the funds to you and you could toss 'er in the mail....?

Edit: plus a little sumthin fer yer trouble of course....
