06 900 week stator

hey i have a 06 900. i had my sled turn off last winter some times .. so i had it pluged in at a dealer and there was a code that said my stator was week.. dose any one know what i should do ...? ive herd of puting on recondtioned ones.. so i dont know if i should by a new one or a rebuilt one.. any one have any ideas.? is one cheeper?

kaleb,

Are you equipped to remove the flywheel, seat, gas tank, muffler and lift the motor for access to the lower recoil housing bolts? (do NOT pry up on the motor mounts to do this)?

A rebuilt one would be as good.

Often though, it is a wire that has rubbbed thru the insulation on the yellow wires.

Good to check the wiring harness, pulling the issulation and plastic loom off to inspect.

Good luck

While you're in there, check the inner sleave of your flywheel covering the magnets. Try to pull it out. You need to work it around to get it to come if it is lose. If you are able to get it to slide out, take some good epoxy and put it back together.

check the wiring just like MH stated above.

i would send your old stator to RM STATOR in canada (google for the info) and have tem rebild it. they charge $150, and $30 shipping..so $180 total, and they will completely rebuild it better then new...but they will NOT touch the wiring harness, so make sure the harness is good to go..

i had them rebuild my spare stator this summer...so cant wait to try it out and use my other one as a spare...along with my 2 extra stators, LOL...
