06 900 starts idles for 10 seconds then dies

I have an 06 900,
it was running good and then it just stoped running as i was going down the trail. i tried to restart it and it will fire up on the first pull it idle for about 5 seconds and then dies. It will always fire on the first pull and idles fine but like i said it dies after about 5 seconds of idling.
If i try to push on the throttle it will die.

I let it sit for a day and went back to stat it and it fired up in 3 pulls and idles for about 1 minute, but as soon as i hit the gas it just died.
Then it went back to starting on the first pull, idle for 5 second then dies

please help

Sounds like you've got a fuel issue. When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced?

You should verify fuel pressure at 58PSI (EDIT: 116 PSI for 06) when the sled is running, there is a test port on the fuel rail that you can hook a gauge to. There is a pressure regulator in the system that may have gone bad, or the pump itself may be weak or otherwise failing.

its an 06 900 right? i believe these had higher fuel pressure of like 116 psi if i remember right.

Haha, woops, my bad... You are quite correct, 116 PSI


06 was the only year they did that.

hey

i was having similar issues with mine.

the things i was told to look for were

chassis relay
capacitor
stator
fuel filter
bad fuel
fuel psi


it ended up being a bolt had come loose and fallen and damaged the stator it munched a few or the wires so it would start then short out and stop
