I have never even worked on a polaris but my question is .... I have a friend with a basically brand new 06 900 RMK with a toasted motor, pretty sure this is the worst motor polaris ever made, is it possible to put in the 800 engine from the dragon? will it fit? I know you can almost make any engine fit in anything but is it a direct bolt in? Thanks.

Nope, not a direct fit at all, the bulkhead requires surgery, find an 06 600 and look at the difference.

I had a 06 900 RMK I never had a crank problem. They key is to make sure you have clutch helex and gearing right. Balance your clutch and its all good. Polaris makes a update crank for the motor if you need it. Go to the 900 club on this site and talk to the pros they can get you in shape in no time. If you can buy it right they are a sweet sled. Ive never rode a factory sled that has the raw torque that the 900 makes.
