06 700 donor to a 09 dragon chassis

I picked up a 06 700 in great shape for 1500 for my girlfriend. looking for another project over the summer and my buddy has a 09 chassis he wants to get rid of cheap i was going to use the 700 sled as a donor sled (suspension motor etc). Has anyone done this swap and can you give me advice, warning. heads up on any problems i might run into. Thanks

Would it make a lot of difference to transfer the parts from -06 to -09? Assuming the -06 is iq aswell? If the -06 is n great shape as you said, i'd just buy the -09 and see if i can find complete crashed one and use it as i donor.

As for the question itself, i dont know what sort of differences there would be, would believe not much, suppose nothing really to make the build very difficult.

you are gonna need to switch all the wiring over from the 06 as well as the fuel system. they are gonna be different, the 06 runs 116 psi pump and the 09 is like 58psi if i remember right. you might also run into some steering column intererence with the injectors on the 06 motor. the intake will have to be something aftermarket like fire and ice, timbersled, or something home built. there is going to be a couple other small differences, but those are the big ones i can think of right now. probably not worth it to me.
on that note you may be better off taking some parts off the 09 and putting them on the 06, to make the 06 handle, ride, and look like an 09.

You may be over your head if you not into heavy modding and know alot about conversions. The main thing you will get issues with, besides above, is he rear motor mount setup, the dragon doesn't have the same mount assembly as he 06. So unless your good at what u do, I wouldn't waste your time..

This will be my next project after i wreck one of mine, lol

As for the rider select, get with my bro Kreg "Polzin" on he forum and he will set u up with a kit for around $110 or so.

The '06 was a transition year for Polaris. I don't think there is much you can do to an '06 700/900 that will make them very valuable when it comes time to upgrade. The '09 has potential if you get an engine put in that makes sense to sell. If it desirable to resell, then it is something worth riding in my mind. I'm not knocking the one-off custom mod sleds that don't sell, but for the everyday rider sled, build what works.
