06 600 cycles into reverse when throttle releases

I recently have a issue where my reverse cycles between forward and reverse at idle or when I let off the gas.

Anyone else experience this????

The first time it happened I had it off and when I started it the reverse light would blink and it just sat there cycling between forward and reverse. The only way I could get it going was to catch the cycle on the forward position and then hold down the reverse key and give it gas, once the engine engaged then it would stay forward until I let off the gas and it would start cycling again.

Now it seems to stay in forward when 1st starting it but as soon as you give it a little rev and let off it automaticlly switches to reverse and visa versa.

I'm stumped at this point cause I'm not finding any shorts and I took the handle bar switch apart looking for ice or shorts but everything looks good?

Thanks in advance for any lead on where to look. How does the TPS affect this issue?

I had a friend that had the same issue. Water got into the switch and was shorting it out. Unplug the switch and see if it will stay running without flipping into reverse.

It was ice.

After disassembling and drying it out it started working again.

I found after disassembly of the button console that there is nothing stopping snow from getting crammed into and around the reverse button.

There is no barrier between the contacts and the hole the button goes thru, so the more you use it the more chance you are putting snow or water into the control.

I'm going to at least wrap the whole control with plastic so no moisture can get in and still give me access to the buttons

Other thought was to create something that covers each handle like a big neoprene sock or one of those big hand warmers to help protect it from the elements.
