05 RT 1000 help

I just did some horse trading and endedup with an 05 RT 1000 162 with 350 miles on it. Ran the vin number and all the factory updates have been done to it. I know that these sleds took a lot of tweaking when they came out of the box and was wondering if anyone would be willing to share setup info. Any advice would be appreciated from what can you guys like to clutching and jetting to aftermarket mods. thanks

Grats on the purchase. Anyways Clutch it first. Either buy a kit from Joey or someone i have a team setup if you want to go that route. get a Tstat from an 08 800 and plumb it in. remove the rear cooler, and rear light rack. Get a can, ceramic coat stock pipe. No need to jet unless you do some mods then get a Boondockers Box so you can remap it since its Fuel Injected. Gear it down to either 20/49, 20/51 or 19/51. Get new skis the 05 ones sucked bad. Other then that CLUTCH it. biggest problem imho

Pull the plastic on the clutch cover and adding some holes in the aluminum shield will make belts last longer. I pulled the sway bar for weight, loose the huge windshield if it still has the huge one (just for looks). Go 15 plate on the chain if you are changing sprockets, I'd try 20 or 49, or get the 51 from Al at the same time (20/51 with 15W 86P chain. Add uni-filters to keep belt dust out of reeds/engine. Gut both airboxes,, I'm trying a large prefilter/frame kit from RM Products. Add scratchers, tape up the mountain strap so it a little stiffer so you can lean on it a bit. Double check that the mid alt prog is in there as that made a big improvement on mine. I added the 06 roller and adjustable hollow pins (from older Summit) and added weight (set screws) to get 7800 on 3 or 4 clicker, shifts well now.

PHILSUMMERS AND BANK BUSTER HAVE IT PRETTY WELL NAILED.

Get the roller secondary on it--mine came off a 06 doo 800--helix change and spring change--HUGE backshift and upshift difference on them. As for the primary--change ramps to I beleive it is the 417--light arms and hollow pins to add weight at the tip. Most of my clutch parts are Doo race clutching parts--made the biggest difference along with a "THING" can and Better Boards--HUGE difference in getting the snow off of the boards so you can stay on the sled with all the torque you will get.

If you are close to Sta Valley SkiDoo--they have a killer clutching combo for you with custom arms for the primary--the shop rides 3 of these sleds so they got on the hill experiance on these sleds. Have fun and HANG ON!!

Or just ask Tetonice--he will be glad to give you all the info on these sleds--or what works for him--just do not do the track stand tuning procedure he recommends---LOL

Hey H20 whats the difference between the 417s and the 415s? I changed out the 414s (stock) for the 415s.

Angle of the approachs--Ran the same ramps in my 670. Mine stock had like some 430 ramps--really weird.

Nitroskidude---I like those vent's--what does the other side look like?

You are nutts to go with a 151 instead of your 162--you will be going backwards in a huge way--the guys I know that had 151's all changed them to 162's in a season or less--with all the big torque of the 1000--you will spin that track--plus you need it to help offset the weight.

the agility of the 162 is a non-issue, get it clutched good, get rid of useless crap, drop brackets, uni filters, good skis, the thing handles like a champ, and im 160# in gear, so dont worry about how it handles, they are awsome, the power is something you wont want to give up ever. i loved the weight of my GUTTED 738 rev 144, but the power of the RT is something you just dont get anywhere else. and the larger flat sidepanels make it handle more like an M series cat on how it lays on its side and rides, which i take as a HUGE plus over the rev.

H20SKE-Since its sittin in my shop now, here's the other side:D Pic kinda sucks cause I took it with my phone...but it works
