05 m7 w/ no hood, gauge and lights.

Okay, so my hood was stolen off my sled last week. I want to ride this weekend but dont have the cash to get a new hood, lights, gauges and a harness. I've done some research and it seems like I can get away with running a resistor so I dont fry the ECU. It seems like a 100w resistor is the most common, but Im also wondering what load pull they need to be. And last but not least does anyone have a schematic of how to wire this beast in there so I can ride this weekend?

Tie the resistor into the yellow lighting coil wire behind the steering post that goes to the little resistor. tie the other end of the resistor to a good ground. You might want to put two 35 watt lights on as well.

I got a ARCOL HS 100 2r F that I do not need. Ran it on my 05 M7 no longer need. I think it is a 100 watt not really sure, but it worked for years with no extra lights or a gauge.

Cool, still probably a long shot to get it here. lol. Thanks though.

I tried to google that number so I can find out the OHMS but I'm having no luck. I was hopeing to luck out and find one here local I could hook up.

I just bought an aftermarket automotive fog lamp and hooked it up instead of the resistor, mounted it above the cylinders on the flat sheet metal in front of the steering post. I've been running it that way for years now without ever a problem. Didn't even check wattage, maybe I just got lucky. I run the hand and thumb warmers on at least low always just to be a little sure though.

The resistor that works the best is 100W and you can buy it from Boondocker. The reason I recomend running both it and lights is if you burn a buld in the light or burn the resistor you have a temporary back up. I have run my 05 M7 for two years with just two 35W lights, ran fine. Then one day I burnt a bulb and it didn't take more than one pull up the hill to melt the ECU. I have had this happen more than once so be very carefull.
Not all sleds are the same though, some can get away with very little power draw and not harm the ECU.

Thanks for the info guys. A local guy here has a used fastlane kit for 30 bucks w/ dual resistors. I'm going to be picking that up and I will order a diamond s hood. Any ideas for aftermarket gauges, I'm thinking at least a tach and water temp?
