05 KingCAT EFI ECU question / Tach required ?

I am switching to a mesh hood and am wondering if I need to keep the giant tach. I have heard it is required for the ecu or I risk burning it up. If I unplug it the sled appears to run fine though. Has anyone run an EFI without the tach ? Or maybe switched it for something smaller ? I did read on another thread that I need to keep some lighting load on the lighting coil or the ECU will shut down the servo motors....

you should be fine, It is the newer M series sleds that need a load on the lighting circuit or damage will occur.

Have the same sled and had the same questions when I put my mesh hood on. Luckily I bought mine used and it came with 2 hi-power headlights on it. No idea what they draw but I haven't had any issues so far.

Recently I did the '09 bumper mod and pulled the taillight off as well. It still ran great for the 3 days I had it out. I'm putting a digitron on now so hopefully I'll draw it back down to stock.
