05 King Cat 900 EFI mods

Hey guys. I just picked up and 05 King Cat EFI. Im wondering how many engine mods a guy can get away with before you need some sort of fuel control. I dont have any egts to watch. From what I know its got and SLP single pipe, sno stuff can, the airbox has been gutted and it looks like it just draws air from the rectangle hole in the back of the box. The crank was supposedly welded and balanced. Its got hyvo gears and Im going to have to pull the cover to see what ratio. So my next question. What kind of rpm range is a safe target with this pipe etc.? I feel like such a newb right now but Im trying to be over cautious before I drive 10+ hours out to Cooke. Id hate to burn it down from straight up lack of knowledge :o

You could but an RKT head on there as well which actually richens it up a bit, or at least they claim. I have one on my sled and love it. You'll see all the mods in in my signature that I'm running without a fuel controller. Running up at 10k feet, and actually running a little rich.
 
I have a pure logic control box for sale. PM if you are interested.
On a side note, I don't know that I would run that pipe without a fuel controller. And I am not just saying that to try to sell this box.

depends on your altitude.

if you're low, i wouldn't run that pipe w/o a box either.

maybe 5-6k+ you'd be ok.

i have reeds and SW pipe, y, and can on mine w gutted air box.

i run an AI box. same as PL box. when i ride at home 1-2k feet...i have the mid and high a couple of notches up. i don't recall exactly, but i think mid is 2.5 dots, and high is 2. with the wire pulled.
