05 Fusion 900 cutting out

hey guys, need some help here, my buddy has a 05 900 fusion that cuts out when we are riding, 40-50 miles runs fine, then it just dies with no warning, try to restart, nothing, sits for a few minutes, fires right up and goes like hell, 40-50 miles more and she dies, any ideas out there from you 900 guys?? any help would be great, thanks, Ron

sounds like an electrical problem. stator would be my guess. more guys will chime in and be more helpful.

I have had a problem like that in an f7 back in the days. Then it was a cold soldering in the stator. It cut when the engine went warm, but did run when it was cold. I drove the engine warm ti'l it died, and measure'd it while it were warm. Thats how I found the trouble.

sounds like a stator to me as well...

lot sof info on these in here...take some time and do some reading through the threads...

download the service manual and test the stator...its very easy to do...(mind you, a BAD stator can rarely..but CAN test GOOD)

stators either just fail, or when they get HOT, they will intermittently go in and out and when the sled is cooled down, they can run fine again...until it gets very hot again..
