05 900 Vibration Question/ Engine Mounts/

Gents,
I've been reading on here obsessively for over a year now and I have learned a TON and first and foremost Thanks for all your help.
I understand that the 900 can have vibration issue stemming from the motor mounts among other things. I have started the preseason work that I can handle. I am a novice but very mechanically inclined.
The question that I have is how do I get a good look at the motor mounts. Is it possible to get a good look without removing the motor. I am not ready to pull the motor just yet. Does anyone have pictures that I can look at to visualize these.
Also, I know there was a thread on here on a aftermarket vibration isolation handlebar attachments. I need to get one of these no matter whats going on in the engine compartment. I have a long history of numb hands from chainsaw work and I need to get as much of the vibration out as possible.
Thank, Marc

you need to pull the motor to effectively check the motor mounts! the handelbar iso vibe is simply a mask or cover up for the vibes, the motor is still going to be shakin in the chassis... your hands may not be going numb anymore but the motor is still vibrating and is still highly suseptable to crank failure, chassis breakage etc etc.. send our clutch to indydan and get it balanced, get the 06 motor mounts atleast, and the slp torque and pusharm, with these few mods you wont need the iso vibe for the bars and you will be solving the vibe issue in a more comprehensive and effective way!!

OK, I will get to pull the motor in a week or two with the help of a seasoned pro. I am not able to do all those mods right now....(Baby due in 2 weeks and I am on the line.):face-icon-small-dis
If I were to pick one.. would it be CompFusion or the 06 Motor mounts. Keep in mind, I am not riding hard mountain terrain. I am mainly a trail rider with some wide open fields and lakes.
What does the SLP torque arm do?
Still will install vib isolator....WHAT ONE is Recommended?
Clutch Balancing from IndyDan would take how long normally?
Thanks,
Marc

BTW....Is there any TRUTH to taking the clutch off and rotating the clutch until you feel a noticeable difference in vibration . I have read that the clutch was originally balanced to to the motor and that any subsequent removal and reinstall if not realigned to the original position, will cause a big difference in vibs.

put in the 06 mounts unless you get a crossmember from Franz too. To many people are breaking the crossmember after installing the compfusions.

Send Indy Dan the Clutch for balancing is number one thing. Clutch is not balanced to the engine on a 900.

If you have a stock secondary helix change it. first number can be anything from 56 to 66, second number should be 44, 46 or 48. Preferably 46. third number is .46.
This is more important than almost anything else you do.

Slp torque arm stops engine from moving but might add some vibration to the snowmobile.

I don't have anything new to add.... but I can reinforce what they are saying.

Last fall I did the following:

New pistons
FBF throttle oil cable
compfusion mounts
new rear mounts
torque arm
push arm
balanced clutch
re-clutched/geared
gas tank update
new fuel filter
Zbroz front springs
225lb front track spring
heavy torsion springs
pivot riser
throttle body boots
scratchers

Now, I'm in the process of upgrading to the 09 plastics and have found:

the front crossmember is broke (the one that holds the motor mounts) - new one on order from Franz

the rear motor mounts are already broke - after 1 season. (i'm hoping it's because the crossmember is broke)

rider select is wobbly - Polzinhunter kit on the way

I would strongly suggest if you can only swing a few things, get the motor mounts, crossmember and clutches taken care of first. You only want to pull that motor out once.....

Good luck, with the sled and the baby, your priorities are about the change.
