05 800 Rev won't start?

:(So I'm totally lost!!!! We went riding today and had no problems for the first couple hours we were out. We stopped to regroup and I went to start my sled. It wouldn't start so we checked the plugs and changed them just to be safe, checked the kill switch, checked the key......and still wouldn't start. Checked for spark and nothing there either! All connections are good that we could see. Anyone have any idea where to start?:(

OHHH Your up Sh!t creek without a paddle dude unless your key is messed you might want to order a new key from Skidoo and check and see if that's the problem? you might as well before you take the whole thing apart. lol

Good luck:confused::confused:

Check your Key make shure its in good shape and there is no moisture in there.

If you know some one with the same sled see if you can borrow there Mpem and key And see if that is the problem. You can also use there DESS post to check for failure also.

You said you disconnected the kill switch ?

If None of that fixs the problem its time to test the stator are pick up coil.

even if the key and dess post are bad, it will still have spark. Sounds like a stator. Check all of the electrical connections, look for anything loose. Odds are pretty good yer stator took a crap tho. Good luck.

'05 800 Rev....How to test Stator and Coil?

Just wondering...having trouble starting my 05 800 Rev. Wondering how to test the stator and coil and where the damn stator is?

stator

If this was an e-start machine you need the battery hooked up to get PROPER spark. have one person look for spark while the other pulls it over hard about 8-10 times.. the first 3 or 4 dont produce spark and then the 5th, 6th, etc produce spark. you need your battery hooked up (and charged of course) also give it a bunch of pulls (hard) and see if headlight lights up a little. if you dont have estart/battery, then you need to replace the stator.

also on e start models you have to reach 750 rpm to produce spark.

the stator is located in the case behind the pull start and the flywheel. As for the testing procedures you will need a fluke meter and the shop manual.

Check the black relay next to the fuses. Last year I rode all day, got home to unload sled, (dead) changed relay fired right up.
X 2, definitely check the relay. If its not the relay its most likely the stator.

Just wondering....where are these relays that you're talking about? I found the fuses and they're good. There's a relay I would say in the general area of the fuses, but not right next to them.

I think these Guys are refering to a electric start Model. Ive never had a 03 04 05 non electric start model that wouldnt start with a bad relay.

Thanks for all the help...ended up after hours of beating my head against a wall, I ended up taking the beast to the dealer. They spent all day diagnosing it to find a bad MPEM box. Found used one on here and plugged it in....wa la....the beast came to life. Now I just have to get the key re coded today and hopefully I'll have an operational sled again!:beer;
