soaked in the hot springs with the kids then went for a ride
took the route up scott paul to crag view, lots of coverage. offered a ride to a solo snowshoer "too noisy, no thanks"
ran into this guy and his wife
then this happened. two skier tourers on a borrowed sled were romping up the squak glacier from big house, didn't see the open crevasse at 8900ft, and rode right into it. They slammed the opposite side and landed about 80ft down where the bridge wedged in. A navy heli lifted them out but left the sled. The owner has been talking to the USFS or sheriff I heard from one of the riders. They are trying to organize a rescue op via rope / sleds this weekend I heard. I happened to have my drone on me so I flew it over the area real quick and took some photos and a video.
Went up to near the crater on a safer route and walked over to where you can see the steam vents. We saw lines in the big bowl at 7400ft that were broken up by crevasses that had opened the last day. either that or they were jumping them. last trip to crater for the year for me
I wish people would clean their trash up, this kind of thing makes me angry. We hauled out a bag full of garbage; empty water bottles, beer cans, wrappers, and other random junk useless slobs left behind them in the lookout.
hung out for the sunset
