04 summit-x 159 ups and downs?

i love the rev chassis and found an 04 with only 1100 miles and im looking pretty hard at it can some one tell me the ups and downs and what to look out for on this sled? it is all stock except for simmons skis

Quite a few threads very recently on the '04 Revs. Chassis and running gear pretty much good to go like all Revs.

Potential issues for piston failure and potential crank bearing failure a bit more likely as well. However, some preventative maintenance on the lower end and possibly pro-active switch to dual ring style pistons would help ensure trouble free running for several seasons.

If the price is right, the sled is in good overall shape, and you don't mind doing a bit of work on it, she'll be as good as any 7 year old sled out there.

I have an 04 159 rev. It has been trouble free for the most part.I put in a new set of rings since that year has a bad rep for ring flaking and when I opened it up my rings were flaking. I had a high idle going on and read on this forum that the carb booits were prone to leaking and mine were. It's a wonder that I could ride it. Last ride out I had my pull starter act up so I had to replace that. Not bad for owning a sled for 4 years. I did a couple of other things to it like a DJ'S clutch kit, re-geared it, and put an SLP can on it. I ride with my brother a lot who has a 163 XP in some pretty deep powder and this sled is a tractor. It handles pretty good and the best part is it's paid for.
the XP is certainly a better sled but every once in a while I'll get to ride a circle around a stuck XP and it brings a smile to my face.
