04 Summit Running Boards

I know there are a bunch of threads on this already, i am looking for a way to get snow off my boards, but I don't really want to pay $200 to do it. Anyone have experience with just opening up the existing holes? How much does it weaken the board? I am thinking I can get away with the $50 stiffeners and get out the dremel to get rid of the snow. Any thoughts would be appreciated

I actually cut mine last year with a hole saw and then filled it smooth. I did notice that the boards did bend just a little after some rides. I think I went to big on the holes. If I had to do it over, I would make them smaller. Just my 2cents.

Boards

Well I know where you are coming from, I fell off my 04 last week...really I am not a clutz:rolleyes:... lots of ice build up. Sled smacked a tree...same cost for the bumper, screen, front support as for a set of Better Boards:eek: The boys bought me a set of board for Christmas, just didnt install them:clock: AAAHHH I installed the boards before I fixed the front end. Seen many Revs that had larger holes cut in them....IF your not a large person or dont ride hard...kinda like my wife:eek: well you can get away with enlargeing the holes. To get large enough holes to keep snow off your stock boards they WILL bend with any kinda hard rideing. Just invest in a set of boards.....you will be much happyer...your sled will look nicer. IMHO Dino:beer;

Not a good idea to cut the holes--bad for resale as well. I have Snow Eliminators on mine and I think they were $135, about 2 hrs to install.
