04 rev 800 144 to 159

Thinking of stretching my 144 to a 159 this summer. What all would need to be replaced to make the change? Will a 2.5" lug fit in there? Thanks

I suggest you do some homework, They dont make a 2.5 in a 159.They make a 162 and 163 in 2.86 /3 inch pitch and also 156 with 3 inch pitch, Then you will need to use 7 tooth Avid drivers, You currently have 2.52 pitch.and 9 or 10 tooth depending on sled.. 7 tooth Avids work very well

144-159

The track I am looking at is a 159x16x2.31 with a 2.52 pitch. I have 10 tooth drivers on the sled and stock gearing. That lug height gives me about 1/4-3/8 between the track and the front cooler? Will the stock gearing and drivers need to be changed?

I would suggest to change drivers to function properly. Snow will bunch up at cooler and choke down any advantages you gain with the 2.3. Drop a tooth and this will lower your gearing 10% at the same time and be pretty good for mountain riding.Do the project right and dont Obama it up!

You should use 9 tooth drivers and as low of gearing possible. I ran 19/47 with the with track you are looking to use and it worked very well. Top speed was just under 90, which is plenty fast for that track.
I have a tunnel extension for a 159 (new OEM), and I also have all the parts for a 151, including extension, cooler, and bumper. I used the 151 setup for my 159 and it fit well.
Good Luck

I went from a 144 to 154 off of an XP. Changed drivers from 10 to 8 tooth. Haven't regeared yet because I haven't ridden it yet. The new 154 is 8 pounds lighter than the 144 though so I'm thinking I won't need to regear.
