04 or 07 which to buy help

Hey all I have been away from the scene for a few years and am looking to get back in. I was looking at a couple of sleds today and need help deciding which way to go. The first is an 04 that has a brand new stock motor in it with 0 miles on it. The other is an 07 XRS with approx 3000 kms on it and is bone stock. The 07 hasn't been riden hard as the A arms don't even have a scratch on them. The owner was apparently very sheepish and was always the last guy that everyone was waiting for. The 04 will come with 1yr warranty and the 07 will be 1mnth warranty. I can get the 07 for 5 grand out the door at the dealership and the 04 is about the 4 grand range. I was going to offer 3500 for the 04. What do you guys think?

Thanks for all the help gang :ohwell:. No worries I found out today that the 07 sold and buddy wants to much for his 04. The shopping goes on.

Sorry....but...FYI, I would have taken the 04, and with a new engine, I think I would pay about 4G.

hmmm..... I disagree.... I would have taken the '07 assuming it had all the ungrades done to it. It has newer technology, a better ride.... but i'm partial to those ones.... I have one and love it!! :face-icon-small-ton

I agree with thoughts on '06 X

This is coming from a current '07 Adren. owner and former '06X owner. Given the choice, the H.O. is smoother, the "R" more power (stock, speaking for both); the track for the XRS and the X is disappointing compared to the '07 Adren. and '06 X. Soooo... given the money issue, in the same situation I would go for the '04 but now that is not an option try to seek out an '06 X.

I will start looking for an 06 X. If anyone knows of one in Northern BC let me know. I don't mind traveling for one if the price is right.

The 04 is trash!

Before anyone says other wise here is the history of my 04, 2 Motors and 3 Rebuilds in 5,xxx miles. The original motor split a rod in half and put it threw the block in 100 miles.

I would go with a 06, 03-05 were riddled with problems and in 07 they introduced the 800r into the MT sleds. I don't know much about the 07 800r but I know 08 had enough problems which leads me to believe the 07 did also.

The 04 has chit running boards, seat and bars. The 06X gets you better shocks, seat, bars, boards. tail light, track...just to name a few things.
Hubby and a buddy both have 06x's and they rock! Another buddy has the 04 and there's no comparison. 04's and 05's are good sleds too, but if you can get a good 06X, the X is important in this model, you'll have much better stock options. Stay away from an 07 unless it's not really an 07 anymore...even then you'll have chitty resale IMO. There are lots of dudes that can't move their 07...might be a good deal to be had if you find one that's been changed and you don't want to sell it real soon.
