:confused: Hello everybody I am new to the forum but have been following threads there seems to be a lot of smart people out there that know their skidoos. So hpoefully you guys will come out and give some feedback. Here is what I have 04 rev 800 rktek 14-1 head v force 3 reeds ,air box mods with pods, carb jetting stock, primary stock, team tied secoundary with 68-63fer 70-65fer red and green spring , I have a 163 inch 2.5 track stock gears. we ride at 3000-8000 ft . My problem is I have not put head or clutch on sled yet and I am trying to get a good starting point as far as primary spring and pin wght, Is this secoundary a good setup , main jet changes for carbs, etc any help will do I have talked with many people and its the same story everyone is all over the place with recomendations but clueless like myself with actual good setups tried an tested. So all you smart guys please help me out somebody must have a similiar setup that is working for you. Thanks

Not to be a dick but...

I tried this game before with a '06 summit X. The thing was nuts a@ 2000- 3500ft. When I got to the mountains though, it sucked pinecones!:mad: For me, do the minor mods like a can, diffrent shocks and seat if you like, but leave the engine alone, pull the rope and go. Its a hell of a lot less dissapointing! I got tired of trying to chase the moded horsepower magic rainbow. Just my 2 bits.

The way you have shotgun listed your mods is hard to understand, do you have the TEAM secodnary & what helixs? What do you weigh, & tell us what mods are installed. What was the stock track so we know what gears you started with?

For now, my 2 cents;
  • 19/45 gear with a 163 track (19/46 if you weigh more than 225)
  • HPS can
  • Stock cut head
  • V-force
  • Primary spring 160-290
  • Start with 16 gms pin weight
  • Secondary - Need to know what you have ????

I'm a "pull the cord and ride" guy like Summitstef and my 04 has a stock engine and ride 7-12,000' and the DPM does its job BUT with your 14:1 head at 3,000', all bets are OFF with pump gas.

Can't help with your secondary either but maybe Dynamo^Joe can help. I have his primary clutch kit and it really makes an improvement but with your 163 x 2.5, can't help. Stock gears with your track? We all run 19 top on our stock 151. Check out www.dootalk.com and ask Joe, he's on there alot.

Well I am glad some people are showing interest to help much appreciated, To start I know this setup works my friend has the same setup minus a smaller 151 , and he has all stock clutches minus some tuning, So I have some of the answers needed to this puzzle, Sorry for not the proper info Gear ratio now is 19-43 I was thinking of going back to stock 19-45 due to the little added power, Right now the sled sits stock minus the reeds, and longer track, gear changes, I also have boss noss 30 shot kit my buddy is still running it on his very similar modified sled with high comp head 1 season no probs, I was told by kelsey at rktek NO'NO on the noss? I also will throw this in I talked with jason at teamhe told me my clutch setup should be primary-160-260 14.5 grams pin wt secoundary 66-62.33 66-60.33 helix with red and black spring these are new team tied numbers for helix right now I have 70-65fer 68-63fer helix with red and black spring. Hope this Info helps with some more input thanks again

NOS :eek: on that motor ='s Kaboom IMHO.

Stick with what you have, head cut, and the gearing, 19/45.

Go with the TEAM (I am a big fan of TEAM). I think you are too steep on helix's. I would rather see less steep helix, & more pin weight working the motor.

I would try 60/44-42 w/ Red/Black spring.

On my 06 800, the helix's I ran did VERY well,
