03 summit keeps killing the ecm

My son in law has a 2003 summit 700 I think. It has ran fine for last year. First time out we went about a mile a the security started chirping and quit. No spark to plugs. Took to dealer that does not sell ski doos any more and they replaced the ECM. Started up but would only run to 3000. Took to dealer to recode the key. Still ran same way. After a bit of warm up got it to wind up down the lane and quit again. Dealer does not know what the problem is. Any helps guys?Don

Ski doo dealer did the same and killed another ECM.

Killing the MPEM

Sea Doo's are known for killing the MPEM when you jump start them, something about a ton of excess voltage/amperage to the MPEM fries them.

I would be checking power supply to the MPEM, the RD/BU? from the voltage regulator. When running, the regulator should limit voltage to about 14.4vdc, anything over that will damage an MPEM. Also check for proper grounds to the MPEM.

Is it electric start? Has the battery been boosted while connected?

Also, check the DESS post connection, the Black/Green wire can come loose from the connector and cause strange electrical things to happen.

Next, make sure your stator is not shorted to ground, check the yellow wires for resistance to ground, should be an open line.

Hope this helps.
