I need some help setting up an 03 sks 700 for 9000 feet and over for a friend of mine. I have always ridden efi cats and my friend has this sled and is coming with us this year. Are polaris specs on jetting and clutching pretty reliable? Do you need to change jets much while changing elevation? We will be staying at a lodge thats 8000 feet and most riding will be at 9500-11000. Any help would be sweet.

completely stock other than 2" track. I talked to a dealer in MN and they said just do the clutch weights and darb adjustments. They said the helix change is a waste of money. Any Thoughts?

I have an 04 sks/switchback 700, that has been used at various high alt. I wouldn't worry about the helix, unless you are planning to just do highmarking. There are several important changes to make. You def need to change the gearing. I would suggest 19/42. The other thing is the EV springs. I use the orange springs (same as 700 RMK). This makes a big diff in performance at alt. I would use the 10-56 weights. I would go just a little more lean than specs on the jets. Just don't keep it pinned on extreme cold mornings. Don't forget to change the needle setting. The 700s are able to handle a fair amount of alt & temp change without changing the jets, if set up right to begin with.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips, but I'm not with ya on the EV springs. Are you talking Exhaust valve springs? I have a Cat and always have and I dont have to do anything to the power valves. If it is something else please fill me in thanks ahead of time

The weights I am going to use are 10-56 and I'm thinking 300 jets. It calls for 320's but i've been told thats a little fat

Yes, exhaust valve springs. The flatland (sks) springs are stronger and require more cylinder pressure to open. At high alt there is less cyl press, so you need a lighter spring to open sooner and to fully open. My low elv springs are green/yellow. The service manual gives the rates for the various colors. Trust me, this is important for proper perf.

Thanks i will have him order some springs too. Are there any special tools needed
