03 MTN Viper 700 HP???

anybody know what this thing has for ponies? my buddy has one and was curious. i have heard 115. i was thinking 135. it has powervalves and a single pipe. any help???

Around 124hp i believe, i think MM700 without powervalves is around 114-117hp.

MM700 112hp, Viper 120hp. Add pipes to either one and you gain 25-30hp depending on brand of pipes and other minor tuning.

Here is my .02 about modding those two sleds. The MM is a dream, just get close to the right set-up and your good to go. the viper......not so much. Get the jetting close enough to make good power and then dont take your eyes off the EGT's for a second or it will burn down.

I had two different modded out red headed 700's and never burnt one down (even on spray). Had one viper that went down 3 times in one year! Man I hated that sled!!! lol Eric

my buddy with the mtn viper just bought a used set of CPR trips for it. supposedly adds 30 hp. anybody got a good jetting chart for these?

Depends where your riding obviously.... I run 150's in the mtn's ( above 9000 ft), and run 160-165's in MN. I'd check with the company that made the pipes if possible, or just check with a local yamaha dealer to double check.

Just gotta be careful. My dad always tells me " if your gonna play, your gonna pay! ".... Meaning if you modify it from stock form, your gonna have trouble. "If it aint broke...mod it till it is!!!!!" haha

Ohhhh, believe me I paid! lol I could write a book on all the stuff I did to that Viper to try and make it run good and stay together. That thing was bad fast when I could keep the pistons in one piece. They have cooling issues and an ugly timing curve, then add pipes and you dont have to be off very far and poof! Eric

You're being too paranoid ----- Vipers are bulletproof.

But if you want to play safe on any 2 stroke, just jet it really, really rich, use a Holtzman Ataac, and use good fuel (i.e., avoid ethanol if possible and no water in gas!)

Who cares? Its a yamaha 2stroke I would still ride a yamaha if they would ever go back to 2strokes. Put a good set of pipes (I prefere SLP) jetting and clutching and you will be set to kick butt.

Sometimes I still miss mine. Had SLPs, porting, bunch of light weight stuff. Never a complaint about the power (after I piped it), and oh that triple/triple piped sound! I put over 6000 miles on it, only let me down once and it was my fault.
Sold it because the suspension was dated compared to the new stuff. As I get older, I find myself a little more picky about ride quality.
If I was in the market for a used sled, and found one in good shape for a good price. Wouldn't think twice about picking it up!

I will never, never sell mine. I know I would regret it!

Once a Boss Highrise seat is added, you have like 3 extra inches of suspension!!!!!!!
