03 KX 500 build

Not much new happening. Waiting for my motor , plastic and frame to get back so I decided to recover my seat tonight. I used taller and more dense foam, it should be pretty nice on the butt.

Yep have one on my son's yz85 and works great..it's been through 100 hours of racing

Checked with efm. They do not have a direct drop in for the 500. Requires modification to the clutch and to the cover. Machining.

Parts are powder coated so I can start putting the bike back together next week.

Got a start getting things back together. Going to be at kind of a stand still till I get my motor back.

Still waiting on my motor. Hopfully end of next week. Got my cyclops light mounted. Nice setup and like it converts my ac to D.C. Power. Also go my number plate tank mounted for my race gas for the nos system. 16 front fender fit nice on the bike.

Did my wrap tonight. Turned out pretty well. Had to modify the front fender and rear fender since the wrap was for original fenders and I am running newer style. But happy overall.

Got my motor back from Eric Gorr. Very impressed with the workmanship and very reasonably priced. He also went ahead and installed a heavy duty steel clutch along with my lighting coil. Can't wait to see how the 525 performs.

Got a good start tonight. Going to be interesting trying to figure out a good spot to hide wires and hoses for the coolers and nos. kind of crowded.

Going tunnel cooler frees up a ton of room.

As I am putting the bike together I am opting to skip the tunnel cooler for now anyway. I am going to try it with the factory radiators first. I want to see how the bike reacts this way first.

Got most plumbing ran. Test fit on carb done. Most electrical installed. Just need to finish up wiring install kit and get nos setup and working.

I'm assuming you have a temp guage, if so with the rads only you are going to see some really high temps on the trail. I've seen over 250 degrees on my cr500. Usually in the deep it sits in the 130 to 150 range.

Sweet!

Looks like we just went through the same process! What gas tank are you using? I had issues with Thermo clearance when I tried it setup like that! Did you pickup the heat sensor for Avid? I was trying to figure out a way to include my trail-tech and that looks ideal!

I just screwed the sensor in the avid stat that came with my trail tech.
