03 - 800cc - 159" are they any good

I have an 03 800 151" (now a 156x16x2.5) and haven't had any problems with it, 2500+ miles on it.

prety reliable sled. Lots of them out there. I have heard of quite a few 800 crank failures but that is probably because there are so many out there working hard in the mountains. Cranks cost about $3,000 because they tend to toast the whole engine, basicaly, the sled becomes a write off.

guys who went from them to the rev chasis would never go back. If you can find an 03 / 04 rev, you will definately get a lot more resale value.

I call bs on the crank price, I put a factory rebuild, short block in yesterday at $1850 Can. + $300 core, over 7000 kms before lower connecting rod bearing failure. I did not like Rev until the XP came out. Now I own one.

a friend was quoted over $3,000 from a dealer when his let go. I think that was a new engine. Anyways, he sold the sled without an engine because the economics just weren't there.

He bought a 2007 rev.

I have a 02 800 with over 5000 GENTLE miles on...hahaha, anyway fun sled. I installed new crank bearings in it this season same old rod bearings ,runs great, cost me 600 for the four bearings and gasket kit from doo. I run a 159 and like it alot, the wife runs a 06 800 HO, 144 I havent rode the Rev that much but I think I could go to the Rev. I will run the 02 into the ground before I sell it ... for what they bring right now. Dino

Riding buddy has one, they flat out work! He has 1500 miles on his. I know all the series III rotax motors had a ring issue, RKT or SLP pistons fix that, aside from that, the good old bulletproof zx platform still caries me, bar risers and de-gaybared made mine alot more comfortable, but mines an 01'. Overall, not sure you can go wrong with it!
