02 summit 800 hp

I got the same sled. BONE STOCK I would say somewhere around 140ish. Maybe, more like high 130s. :)

Twins would wake it up though!

I figured 140ish, maybe 150 with the pipes. I would recomend the twins, I rode my buddies 01 800 151 all last season and they have pretty decent power, and the jaws sound awesome. but this year I bought my own

02 was a non HO engine and was about 132-133 hp. The 03 HO engine was up around 137-138 hp. There are HUGE variations in the hp gain or LOSS that a set of twin pipes will provide. I have heard numbers as high as 20 hp increase with twins on a Doo but that is TOTAL BS! I would say that on an 02 you are probably in the 140 hp range with the Jaws twins. hope that helps!

PS Did you just buy that sled? Is that the one that was listed in Cochrane?

yea it was the cochrane sled...did you see it on kijiji ?

HPs

these always turn into arguements.

The horse power or a series III 700 was 23-27 i believe, and Albertaboy sounds dead on about the 800s.

say you have 138 at best. and you buy "14hp + pipes"

most likely your not getting anywherer colse to 14hp. Jaws are the only major brand pipes tested at elevation to my knowledge.

Twin pipes take a while to get them tuned to perform at their best. Alot of twins also arent good at high elevations.

Another thing is that they produce that "14hp +" level at extremely high rpms. which a stock motor probley wont handle.

The only real way to tell what your motor is running is a dyno.

And if you have many mods that all say they add horsepower. 99.9% of the time your not getting all the horsepower the parts claim when added up. Like 3hp this 4 that, 13these. your not getting 20HPs. sometimes parts work and sometimes they dont work with each other.

Tuning is the most significant part of creating HP.

go to a dyno and see what your running.

PS Doo stock exhaust systems don't leave a lot of HP to be gained like the Polaris pipe... I had twin Split Second Pipes... no idea if they made more hp so I called the manufacturer and the guy who built the pipes told me that they don't make twin pipes for the doo anymore because it was too hard to get hp and even in some cases they lost hp. Would you spend $1000 to lose 5 hp???? Not likely... that is why I wouldn't bet that you are getting more than 5-8 hp out of the jaws. If you are going to spend $1000 on twins to get that kind of hp, you might as well spend $2000 and get a big bore kit that will turn out 172 hp... ok... lets say even 160hp... that is still 30 hp gain on the stock 02 (porting the 02 jugs is necessary to get this hp gain)

my $.02

Yup... my buddy was looking at it... looks like a nice clean sled... Enjoy!

yea it is in really good shape, I guess they had quite a few people calling about it. thanks, I will enjoy. i was more curious about the hp than anything. i have rode these sleds quite a bit and I think they have enough power ( for now) I will be looking at some stuff to lighten it up like a hood and a boss seat

I think Sledneck26 might have a hood for you... Mark... still got it???

I've got a set of Jaws pipes on my 800HO, they add a little hp but I think that it is more down like 5-10hp like everyone else is saying. But I only paid $125 for them brand new so they were kind of like free.:D

5-10 is still 5-10 you didn't have before. my sled came with the jaws, I love how they sound if that counts for any cool points
