02 Rmk 800 running problems spits sputters and backfires

I have had an ongoing problem with my 02 800 rmk it ran fine earlier this year and i had it sold when he took it out for a test ride it started sputtering and backfiring and feels like it is only running on one cylinder. when trying to see which cylinder i pulled one plug wire and it kept running replaced and pulled the other and it still runs kind of wierd. I cleaned carbs and filled bowls with fresh gas to rule out bad gas. I took it to the local dealer and they checked out electrical system, went through cabs, they found one cylinder was operating much cooler than the other and were able to correct that problem the found some bare possibly shorting wires not it. resistance values check good for stator. I tried a different ecu and same thing they are stumped at dealer and my backside is sore from the bill. The owner of the dealership after hearing the problem says it sounds like a stator to him. Any thought on this would be appreciated I am stumped and would like to be able to get this sled going also the temp light stays on all the time and has since i got it but it never seemed to affect anything and it has always ran really good and then shut it off and it runs ok to bad

I would try a temp sensor, check the crank seal, it could be sucking air, use carb or brake clean to check it. pm me if you need parts, I have a lot of used parts from these sleds like coils, ecms, stators and such. I can save you some money

Lot's of times when a sled does this it is not getting enough fuel. If you start it and pull the choke does it make any difference at all? Usually the pilot system get's something in it that was not detected.

I had that same problem with mine for awhile, tried alot of different things and it just ended up being that the line that goes from the fuel pump to the crank case, it came off the crank case side.

I agree I had what sounds to be the same issue a couple years ago and it was bad fuel lines allowing pieces to get in the pilot and main jet .

Take a look at the reeds carefully, possibly a broken reed petal
