Few quick questions;

When was the last time the carbs were gone through and cleaned?
How old is the gas, could it have contaminated the fuel tank with water, debris or other things that will create carb issues.

Have you messed with the fuel or air screws yet?

You might want to check your reeds... when they crack/break then the machine won't run well off idle but will often clean up at open throttle.

You might also have a needle issue... I've seen them wear from vibration to the point that they even break off.

If/when you dig in to the carbs, check the sliders as well, they can wear and start letting air flow past the sides.

Experiment with needle position in the carbs. Lean it out a bit first by dropping the needle one notch. You'll need a small allen wrench. Mine is in the #2 position, as measured by notches from the top of the needle.
