02 Powerstroke Tranny crapped out

I have an 02 F350 Powerstroke with 120,000 miles on it. Never any problems with the Tranny and have done my share of towing. Took it in for a transmission service awhile back and now about three miles from the house she Blew. I have a temp gauge for the tranny and it never rose. Spit fluid all over and she's a Dunner:( Now.. I don't want a Ford vs Dodge vs Chevy deal nor do I want to hear auto vs manual BS... What are my options from here. Are there any reman outfits that make a solid swap out? If I have it rebuilt.. What should I look for and make sure is done to it? I am going to keep this truck as I see no need to replace it... Keep the input focused please:face-icon-small-win

when the tranny crapped in the 99 f350 ps and the 02 f350 ps service trucks both were replaced by the dealer, dealer told me ford does not rebuild them or recommend rebuilding them, 99 had 86k and the 02 had 112k,

I own 8 ford trucks for my company. I would replace it with a factory tranny.
I have had a few tranny problems after 120,000 miles, we get ride of them at 160,000 - 170,000 miles. Just my 2 cents.

I don't know if it is even possible, but I wonder if you could put a newer Torqueshift tranny in it? I've driven one one time and thought it was pretty nice, but that's just my thought, again, don't know if it's even possible.

Kinda surprised it crapped out on you at such low mileage, isn't it an E4OD? I've got 187K on my original tranny and still goes good as it ever has.

This would be my choice have been eyeing it for a long time because I have a powerstroke that I cannot keep the tranny from slipping but its not the trannys fault I am just putting 450 HP against a stock tranny and its going to quit some day. I think that it would work well with a stock truck also but I would not put in a stock tranny if someone payed me to. I dont think that it includes a torque converter.

Guess I should also say that I run AEM Intake, 4" exhaust, Bully Dog 6 bank. Kinda strange how it crapped out where it did with never any hint of trouble.

That is normally how they go just like that. My .02 ditch the bully dog dont like them if you haven't had head gasket problems you will.

I was told there is a company in Canada building a Tranny for the 7.3 trucks that was bullet proof???

BTS gives you a lifetime warranty, I would look nowhere else. When my 02 lets go, that's where I'll be getting one from. They run about 4k with a converter.

Yes there are....

I would try Bill Kondolay at Diesel Transmission Technology, in BC.

Or, BD Power in Abbotsford, BC.

I know that the DTT Transmissions in the Dodge trucks have been very stout, and have earned a great reputation.

Put in a Torq Loc, so you dont burn it up going down hill!!!

BD (no relation to BD power...)

I'm located in Southern Oregon and the truck is currently in Roseburg. Right now all the info I get is for the better. If you know web addresses for these outfits please post. Suncoast looks pretty good so far.

How mechanical are you? They aren't really that tough to overhaul. when they did a service on it did they change the front pump seal? I've had those blow out and its just a matter of pulling the tranny and replacing the seal. when it pops out the truck just flat stops, but the tranny isn't done it just can't get any juice to engage the clutch pacs.

suncoast would be a good one.once you build them and drive with it youll never go back.I'am running a fully built goerend trans. in my 02 dodge and it shifts way better than any truck with an auto that ive ever driven.shifts will be way better with a aftermarket valvebody and billet tq/converter. don't let the price scare you. do it once and be done.that 7.3 will go a long time, might as well make the tranny do the same.

I had a bts in my f-350, great trans until it broke. Brian said he would warranty it but i was responsible to get the trans or truck to him. 2k miles was too far!!! They all break, just make sure whoever you go with, they will pay labor to r&r trans and pay freight if it goes down. ATS will. I have heard Jasper also makes a HD trans. They have dealers all over the US.

Just my .02
