02 Dodge ...Dealership/ Warranty Work.......

ok so i thought i needed to vent a little so maybe somebody on here will read...if not..gettin it off my chest anyways...wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen....
here goes.....so the middle of Oct, im cruisin down the road just outta town and hear what i thought was rod or rod bearing spun...take it in to my dealer and luckily have a month and a half left on my warranty. whew!!. well it sits in their lot for another 3 weeks before they get it in to tear it apart...which i knew would take them that long...ok. now my warrranty is virtually gone....but will be covered. takes 'em another 2 weeks to tear the engine down and come to conclusion (rod bearing and #4 cyl)...they order from dodge...get a new engine shipped in ...thats another 4 week ordeal...yada yada yada...engine is here...started puttin it together 2 weeks ago...told me it would be done at the beginning of this week...went in today...engine is still sittin there...told me they cant find a Cam for this 02 dodge anywhere in the US from a dodge chrysler place...and MAYBE main headquarters back east (wherever that is) has a few in stock but are limited and need full detail before they send one out. so now im gettin the run around from the dealer tellin me it could be another month to get a cam in...if they can find one? WTF!? its like they're tellin me they dont make 'em anymore!...was i wrong by freakin out on the dealer today cuz they done have their Chit together and are ordering one part at a time? truck has been there for 4 months now.
sorry to rant...my venting is done for now :)

4 freaking months, that is bu!!****. Keep venting my good man, you deserve it!

ok good thats kinda what i was thinkin....needless to say i about got kicked outta the dealership today :) progressive F-bombs arent appreciated in the shop :)
on another side note...dodge sent a short block knowing that the tie rods werent the right ones and when the dealer got the engine, dodge told 'em to flip it over and see if the numbers were wrong on the rods...they were...so that took another month....(this didnt happen to me since mine were the right ones, but the truck right before mine had that happen....6 months later is was out)

about all you can do is rant, you could give them more money for a new truck and trade it in but that only works sometimes. contact chrysler and tell them what is going on they may help you out. I know when I worked for volvo and a customer called we got a visit

Where the fug do you live. I had tranny pop on a tahoe on the way back from a sled trip once. Called the dealership on the way back told them I was leaving it in the parking lot and dropping keys off in the drop box. Picked it up 48hrs later with a new tran in it. Must be in BFE with no delivery trucks. Feeling sorry for ya man.

Sorry Dude, but you're not getting the whole story from that dealership. Someone is not taking care of stuff. I'd have a chat with the parts department manager first and then go see the service manager. I bet that their stories don't line up.

yeah..have talked to both of 'em....but ofcourse...after havin the cam issue for a week before tellin me about it..they both said the same thing...i told 'em they were fulla Chit and made 'em give me the numbers for dodge chrysler so i've been talkin to them directly and they made a call to the dealership to get to the bottom of it....but ofcourse...havent heard back from dodge either.
if its gonna be another month, im gonna go tell 'em to put an aftermarket cam in instead of a dodge one...thats their issue is that dodge wont cover the warranty work if its not a dodge part..but after F'ing me for 4 months...i dont care..the dealership can eat it a little bit...besides its not gonna have a dodge warranty after this anyways...just the dealer warranty..they just dont wanna spend a dime and are willin to let me wait for 4 months!

We (all of the SW peeps) could all start calling the dealership on your behalf and asking WTF. :D
Hook us up with names and numbers and let the games begin!:beer;

I would call Chrysler back, ask for the name and number of the district service manager. Get them on the phone and raise hell. You didn't mention if you had loss of use coverage. If so mention that to the DSM. They hate payin for a rental for any longer than a week. Oh and the next time you pay a visit to your dealer, no matter how much you don't want to, pull up in a brand new Toyota with dealer plates. Then tell them how much better a truck that one is. (ya might hafta bend the truth some;)) That usually gets the point across.

Mike

That sucks on your truck, but working in a similar field to the ones your fighting with, remember that it could be the dealership giving you the run around, it could be the factory giving the dealership the run around, or there may be somebody new at either the factory or the dealership who is learning a very hard lesson about being through the first time. If they truely care about keeping you business they will try to find a way to make things right in the end.

yeah it seems that everyone is passing the blame to someone else...and its gettin kinda old...so i got numbers for the dodge people...more calls to come tomorrow to figure out whats goin on ...if anything yet...
ohh...and if i had a toyota ...or any other dealership around i would def. be drivin in there with one :)

What the hell are you doing letting your baby sit there soooo long? I dont know about most people but I only have one ver that I can drive. I would send Dodge a bill for your time that was wasted by them...

Good luck

If you go aftermarket F1 Diesel Helix series are great cams. I'm running a Helix 2 with a bolt on cam gear and allows the use of a 12v mechanical fuel pump. Allows you to get rid of the crappy oem electric lift pump. Good luck

Colorado....yeah its killin me not havin it!..now im rollin around in an 80's model ford service truck with a utility box...its an old plumbing truck!! :)

duke.....would love to go aftermarket..and told the dealership to put an aftermarket one in there as well..but they wont do anything besides dodge chrysler parts or else dodge wont pay them the money for the warranty work...so they're screwin me over cuz they dont wanna spend a dime of their own....

on another note....who is familiar with edge chips and if everything sets back to factory if they are removed or not...?

The truck will like stock if the box is removed. Generally a dealer will be able to detect if there a box on it via the pump wire being tapped and/or codes that might been set. If they do detect that the truck had a box they will probably give you a hard time with warranty work.
