02 crank shop pipes on 01 800

I have an 01 summit 800 that I would like to put crank shop pipes on from a 02 summit 800 HO that I bought as a parts sled. The motor in the 02 is toast. I am wondering if I have to change anything else if I put these pipes on? The 01 is stock so would I need different jets or reeds? Any help would be great,thanks.

Any time you change anything you should consider your jetting. Put on the pipes and take er for a scoot , and then do a plug chop. (shut it off right away as fast as possible and pull out your spark plug and look at em , look up on google about reading plugs)Its good to be all touchy feely with your sled!

on the 01 and 02 500 mains were stock, if you want to make some horse power on that sled there a piston mod that they do some welding on oem pistons because they dont cover the ports at tdc I Ve done at least 8 of those sled and you will be able to drop 2 460 mains 20 pilots for stock .. If you can Id run some cpi pipes, back then crankshop pipes were having some manufacuring problems, and didnt perform very well, You can check with wisco I think they redid there piston casting to cover the ports.

Thanks for the info. I will look at what both sleds have for jets. It is -26 deg C right now so I will wait till it warms up a bit.

I looked at the jets off of the 02 and they are 540 jets. I am not sure of the jets on the 01 yet. I also tried to put the pipes on but it looks like I will have to make a few mods because the hood will not close without touching the pipes. There is just over 3000km on the 01 so I don't think I will get to carried away or I will be putting more money into this engine than I want to.
