'02 800 Summit Highmark X RER Electrical issues

Help!!!

My buddy just bought an '02 800 Summit RER. Runs very well, and is in excellent shape. We took it out a week ago for the first ride and it ran awesome all day. Stopped for lunch and when he started back up NO LIGHTS, TACH, SPEEDO. None of the electrical would work, but sled ran fine. Later that day I saw the headlight come on for about 30 seconds and then went back out and no accessories since. Any suggestions? We're going to check the power supply for accessories coming off the stator, but if that's fine are we looking at tracing all the wires for a short? Or is their a relay, fuse etc. that went bad. Need help from the experts.

(Just happened to me a week ago...)

The nose of the ZX likes to fill with snow - which even in -20 temps will thaw to some degree and then refreeze. My plug in connection to the hood came undone when I opened the hood as the loom on the tub side was froze down and when the cab went up the loom couldn't follow - so the plug right there unplugged. This usualy has a zip tie on it.

My scenario wouldn't have anything to do with the RER other than you may have popped the hood when you stopped for dinner. ???

Just found the wires going to his taillight had shorted and caused everything else to quit working. It has a boss seat and the guy before him had not done a very good job routing the wires back to the light.
