02 700 xc stretching to 144 gear and clutch combo

Just looking for some advice on what to use for gearing and clutching on my 02 700 xc.I am putting a 144" track with a 2" lug on it with the tunnel and rail extension.Any info would be much appreciated and thanks in advance...

I did this project back in 2004. It is pretty simple. I am at college at the moment and can't check my paperwork, but I believe that the only change I made was dropping two teeth on the top gear. Clutching is stock, and it rips. While it is no longer out front, it is still a fun machine.

Just thought of something. Check the 02 700 RMK factory settings. People were pretty happy with it. I am pretty sure that I copied the gearing, clutching, etc from the dealer book. Also added an SLP can and other goodies to open her up a bit.

How fast roughly did it go with the bigger track? Right now the sled has 24/41 combo and it rips and is good for around 100 on the speedo. Was thinking of going with the stock specs from an RMK.On the speed calculator with 19/39 it is good for around 80 @ 8000 rpm.I think for ditch banging and off trail it will be tons of fun.

I have put most of my miles on in areas where looking down is suicide (out west). But when I have paid attention, I would say it is good for somewhere in the over 80 zone. The best part of this sled is mid-range though. Pulls hard. I go neck and neck with my friend's 02 Summit 800 with a 151 all day long. If you are headed off trail you are going to want some running board traction: this thing is really slippery stock. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up on that,I do have tunnel stiffeners so this might help a little.Right now I do have a few mods done twin pipes,780 big bore non ves engine, slp air kit, reeds,so I should have no trouble for power doing this swap.

2-1 gearing is a must also goto a Almond primary spring with 2 more grams of wieght. stock helix works well. I ran that setup for a few years and worked awsome "SLP specs"

I did this a few years back for my wifes sled. It did Ok, but was a bit of a trencher in the deep stuff. Don't know how in depth you want to take it, but I definitely would have dropped and rolled it had I kept it.
