I need some help with my 02 700. I put 180 miles on today and the temperature of the exhaust was so hot I couldn't keep my foot up in the foot holds. The sled ran fine for the most part but did miss a few times around 5500 rpm. The plugs were a little lighter than I would like - but not burning up. There is coolant in the bottle and it was not boiling over. I thought the motor was going to burn up before I got home, but it didn't, and it still seems to run fine.
I looked for air leaks and can't find any. Also, both plugs look the same so what ever is making it hot is going on in both cylinders. I also inspected all the DPM hoses and they are all attached and I don't see any tears, etc.
It was warm today - but only about 32 degrees F. I have ridden this sled on 40 degree days in the past without this. It is stock except it has Wiseco pistons from a burn down a few years ago caused by a radiator leak.
With such hot exhaust gas I don't understand why it did not burn down unless the DPM is compensating by putting in more fuel. Is that possible?
Any help would be appreciated before my boot melts.
