01 Summit 800 Idling High and Overheating

I have an 01 Summit 800 that has run perfectly for the last two year. However, the last couple times I have started it up it idles way too high, around 3000. I drove it around my yard for a couple minutes and it overheated. The radiator was not warm at all. Would this be a thermostat or maybe a water pump?

Thermostat...... it was commom for them to break and not allow flow. The water pump is driven off a gear from crank and doesn't normally go bad.
