01 summit 800 elecrical problem??

So i got a 01 summit 800 and when i fire it up it runs for a little bit then just shuts off, its not fuel as it fires up right after when i pull it over. I put a electrical tester around my plugs and the light goes out right as it shuts out, thus it must be electrical. has anybody experienced this with a 800?. I already changed the kill switch and that wasnt it.

Just a thought make sure your vent line to your fuel tank isnt plugged. Ive seen a mxz run and then shut off and then it would start right back up again and it was a plugged vent line. It could be elecrical but check this first.

I have seen the wire from the DESS post, the Black/Green one, have a bad connection and cause the exact same problem, also seen bad DESS posts do that.

No need to pull the stator as you can check continuity while in the sled: check each yellow to the other yellows and you should have about 0.7 ohms ( 3 tests ) and check each yellow wire to the engine ( ground ) and you should have no continuity. If when you test from the yellows to ground and you have continuity, then you need a new stator.

Also have seen bad MPEMs do that. If you have a friend with the same year of sled, try swapping MPEMs and keys at the same time, then try DESS posts.

Just my .02....

It could be the stator. as it warms up the wires separate killing the motor. It cools off and restarts, meaning there could be some broken wires in the windings. i wouldnt waste your money taking it to the dealer. electrical gremlins can add up. You can find used stators for cheap or have it rewound. The 6,7, and 800 model stators will work from 99-01.
