01 Mtn Cat LE Rear Suspension Questions

I have a new to me 01 800 Mtn cat LE. The stock 144 has been extended to 159. While working on the sled I noticed the the rear half of the rear suspension has the option to mount in two different locations. It is currently in the forward position. What is the theory on the two different locations? What performance characteristics change based on this location?

On the older cat rails you had two options for the rear arm they called it the short track and long track positions it is more fun to ride if you mount it in the front holes because it will transfer easier and have more ski lift. when cat switched rails in 04 i think they didnt even offer the forward mounting spot anymore it is all based off of the rear holes. i assume they did this for climbing and trying to limit ski lift. if your more of a boondocker and tree rider you will have more fun riding it if its located in the forward position if you like to shoot up the side of mountains you should move it back
