I recently bought a fixer upper mountain max 700. I tore it apart yesterday to find that there are a whole lot of issues. I am in need od a new crankshaft. I found a complete bottom end on line out of a 1997 Yamaha vmax sx 700. Can anyone tell me if this is compatible with my 01 mountain max 700. Thanks in advance for any info you might have.

Yes it will interchange. Make sure to use your 01 flywheel and stator though.
I might have a spare crank laying around for one of those I could sell but if you wanted it you'd have to you to change your user name.
